ABSTRACT
Objectives: The general objective of this research is to assemble published anecdotes, unpublished reminiscences, historical facts and factoids of selected Filipino actors and actresses. Specifically, this research aims to provide a brief background of selected Filipino actors and actresses. It is only a selective listing with the stress on selective, so that the potential serious researchers on local films could be spared the chore plowing through an endless morass of gossip and trivia that is the standard of entertainment articles up to the present. This research is primarily designed to provide a thumbnail biography of selected Filipino movie thespians who stood out from the common herd; and list and illustrate the most popular romantic pairings in local movie history as well as the many feature films they have starred in.
On the whole, the well-known method of representative sampling was used in this research. Each glamour photo, publicity still or movie advertisements on the topic under consideration were summarily judged for its “pictorial” effectiveness. The same method was used regarding the second objective of this study.
