ABSTRACT
The goal of family planning program of the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) is to provide universal access to family planning information, education, and services through partnership with Local Government Unit (LGU’s), Non-Government Organizations (NGO), private sectors and communities. Kabalaka Reproductive Health Center is an outreach arm of Central Philippine University (CPU) College of Nursing since 1971 to the present. This study explored the factors that influenced Kabalaka family planning services utilization using Q-method. The participants were clients of KABALAKA Reproductive Health Center (KRHC) who are Family Planning acceptors of legal age during the period in which the study was conducted and were continuously availing the services offered by from anytime between 2010 to 2017. There were 50 participants in this study that were selected from 120 Family Planning clients of KRHC through purposive sampling. The Q-sort statements served as instrument of the study. Data gathering commenced with collection of concourses through one on one interview. After the interview, the participants were asked to express their individual perspective through a sorting procedure. The analysis of data used the Varimax factor analytical procedure. Data analysis revealed four (4) significant factors: (1) care experience, (2) care support, (3) care process, and (4) care providers. These factors influence the Kabalaka clients’ choice of family planning services and service providers. It is recommended that the University needs to invest and procure up to date equipment relevant to reproductive health services to maintain the accreditation that was granted by the DOH as Reproductive Health Service Provider. KRHC should sustain its Reproductive Health Services since its clients from different part of Iloilo City and nearby Municipalities expressed trust and confidence to the services provided by the Center.
